New!!!SOLD!! 288-R1135. M1884 Trapdoor Rifle, s/n 483126 (1889) with SRS Letter. ANTIQUE FIREARM - NO FFL REQUIRED. This is the first SRS documented Trapdoor rifle that we have been able to offer. The rifle was issued to Company B, 5th Illinois Volunteer Infantry in 1898. This unit did not leave the United States during the Spanish American War. The rifle is in good overall condition. The lock plate retains much of its finish, the barrel, hammer, trigger guard, and bands range from thinning finish to silver (bare metal), the cleaning rod is one-piece with most of its finish intact, the breechblock and tang have no visible color case but have a blued looking finish indicating overhaul and re-finishing. The rear sight is, strangely, a M1879 type instead of the expected M1884.The bore is just slightly short of bright and shiny. The stock is in good overall condition, but has quite a few handling and storage dents and dings. A cartouche and script proof P is visible, but I am unable to read the date of the cartouche. Sale includes the SRS letter. - $1,295
