License Requirements & Shipment to Licensees

            All Federal, State, and local laws apply to the sale of firearms. Receipt of a signed in ink, current Federal Firearms License (FFL) or Curio & Relic License (C&R), if applicable, is required prior to shipment of any firearm. In accordance with ATF regulations, faxed copies of licenses are not accepted. When shipping a firearm to a third party (FFL holder) a copy of the purchaser's sales receipt is NOT included with shipment unless specifically requested by the buyer or licensee. When shipping a firearm to a third party (FFL holder) the outside of the box is clearly marked with the name of the the transferee. A copy of our FFL will be enclosed with shipment of firearms. The buyer is responsible for complying with all state and local laws. Placing an order represents that such a purchase is legal in your area and not restricted by law. Purchase indicates Scott A. Duff Firearms is not liable for the improper use, misuse, damages, or any illegal activity involving possession of purchased firearms, components, accoutrements, accessories, ammunition, books, manuals, or any other items.

Holds and Payment

            A phone call, voice mail, email, or fax will hold any item for 5 days. Money orders or bank checks are preferred, personal checks must clear prior to shipment, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover credit cards are accepted. Call or email to discuss layaway durations and payment plans. Layaway durations may vary from firearm to firearm. A minimum deposit of 10-percent or $100, whichever is greater, is required. If the layaway is cancelled by the buyer, $50 of the deposit is non-refundable. All sales on layaways are final, no returns accepted. Pennsylvania residents must include 6% State Sales Tax on all purchases. Gift certificates are available in $5.00 increments.

Packaging, Insurance, and Shipping

            Regular orders of under $50 are shipped via US Postal Service (USPS). Book orders under $50 are shipped via USPS Media Mail. Delivery by Media Mail can take from several days to several weeks. Orders above $50 are shipped via UPS Ground, insured. For an additional $6 fee, any order under $50 may be upgraded to UPS. This option is avaialble on the Shopping Cart Check Out page. All shipment of books advertised with Free Shipping are via US Postal Service Media Rate, unless the $6 UPS upgrade is selected during check out. Packaging and shipping charges are as follows (within the continental United States only). Orders shipped to Alaska or Hawaii must be via USPS Priority or UPS 2nd Day Air. Shipping Charges will be adjusted accordingly. The shipping price to ship book orders to Canada or overseas will be adjusted accordingly.

            Orders over $6,000 will appear on your Shopping Cart order Confirmation with $0.00 for Basic Shipping. Shipping and insurance on orders over $6,000 will be calculated by the Shipping Department and added at the time of processing. The actual amount charged will be included on the Sales Receipt that is sent with the order.

Inspection Period and Returns

            We offer a five-working day inspection period on all items listed (except books). If dissatisfied for any reason, return the item in the same condition as received with the original or a copy of the credit card receipt (if applicable) and receive a prompt and full refund for the purchase price of the item. The cost of return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. There are no refunds on any shipping charges or costs. Return of an M1 rifle must include the copy of the data sheet before a refund will be processed. Failure to return the data sheet will result in a $25 deduct from your refund. No explanation or reason for return is necessary. A phone call or email prior to return is appreciated. No returns are accepted on layaways.

            To return a book you must notify us by phone or email within 3 days of receipt of the book, provide the reason for requesting a return, and must receive approval for the return. If approval for the return is given the book must be returned in excellent, unread condition. The original or a copy of the credit card receipt (if applicable) must be included to receive a prompt and full refund for the purchase price of the item. The cost of shipping to the buyer and for the return is the responsibility of the buyer, no refunds on any shipping charges or costs will be given on returns. After approval of a return, shipment must be immediate.

Firing Collectable Firearms

            The firearms in this sales list are NOT certified for firing.  All firearms are sold as collectables only and are NOT warranted for shooting.  Firing collectable firearms may decrease the value of the gun or result in injury or death.  No one should shoot any old firearm without first having it thoroughly inspected by a professional gunsmith.  Descriptions offered in this sales list are the opinions of the author and are not intended to indicate that the gun is safe to shoot.  I am not gunsmith.




CONSIGNMENTS

            We are always seeking fine U.S. Military firearms or accoutrements for consignment sale. Our track record of providing the buyer with a quality firearm, accurately described, at a fair price and of balancing this by providing the seller with a convenient venue for sale of their firearms with a fair return is well known. Our reputation speaks for itself.

A sale price of $10,000 or more for an individual firearm carries a 16% sales commission.

Individual firearms selling for $500 to $9,999 carry a 19% sales commission.

No individual firearms or accoutrements with an expected sale price below $500 will be accepted for consignment sale. However, we may be interested in buying lower priced accoutrements directly.

The consignment payment is made on the actual sale price.

Time Frame of Sales

            We currently have between 100 and 150 consignment firearms on hand. We strive to be fair to the sellers and post firearms to the website in the general sequence in which they were received. For our website updates we also try to select a group of firearms that will provide our website visitors with an interesting blend of various types and models. Therefore, firearms of a type that we have less of in inventory will often post to the website more quickly than those of which we have in abundance. A great many man-hours are expended in the preparation and posting of each website update. Scott Duff personally examines, evaluates, writes the descriptions, and prices all consignment items. Photos must be taken, the text of the website update converted to html, each actual web page prepared, and the new items added to the shopping cart system. The current expected time frame from receipt of an item through posting, sale, and payment is approximately six to nine months. We are able to sell some firearms more quickly than that without posting them to the website. This can cut down on the time it takes to sell your firearm. We strive to treat both buyer and seller fairly and respectfully, and to move items through the system as quickly as possible.

How to Consign a Firearm or Accessory

            To consign a firearm you must first contact Scott Duff by telephone at 724-327-8246 or by email at sdufforder@alltel.net to discuss the item you are considering consigning. Scott will advise you if it is something appropriate for sale on the website. He will also give you an estimated base price evaluation and anticipated time frame of sales. Detailed shipping instructions and proper shipping address will be provided via email.

Scott Duff Publications is pleased to be able to ship books published by Scott Duff Publications anywhere in the world.  Shipping will be by Air Post, at rates set by the International Postal Union for air mail from the USA.  Credit Card payments will be accepted, with shipping calculated & charged at the time of dispatch.

 

Scott Duff Publications is able to ship firearms, firearms parts, tools, or accessories, or books from publishers other than Scott Duff Publications only to USA addresses.  We can ship only books published by Scott Duff Publications to addresses outside the USA
