Personal Experiences from World War II and Korea
by Mark G. Goodwin with foreword by Scott A. Duff
The
first thing that the reader must know about this book is that it is a gun
book. It is not simply war stories, but sixty-five
interviews with soldiers and Marines specifically relating their experiences
with the US
infantry weapons in combat during World War II and in the Korean War. The
differing opinions of these men is fascinating. One man loved the M1 rifle and
hated the M1 carbine while the next loved the M1 carbine and hated the M1
rifle. Based upon his personal experiences each man had his own opinion on the
weapons that he had used during these wars and relates those observations to
the reader. So much of what we collectors and history buffs think we know about
the use of US infantry weapons in combat has been derived from two sources:
movies and books. Some movies, like “Band of Brothers” are very accurate,
others are not. The general history books of these wars rarely contain the
in-depth details of infantry weapons that would be of interest to collectors.
The stories about US infantry weapons contained in this book are the real
hands-on experiences of the men who actually used them for their intended purposes.
Once I began reading these interviews, I could not put the manuscript down. – Scott A. Duff

The M1 Garand: Owner's Guide - Disassembly, assembly, inspection, repair, cleaning, zeroing, and more. All copies signed by Scott Duff!
Written specifically for the M1 rifleman. With interest in the Garand at levels not previously experienced, new owners often have questions about their recent acquisition. Most common among them are: "Who made my rifle and when?" "How do I take it apart and put it back together?" "How do I clean, lubricate, and maintain it?" This book will answer those questions.
The civilian owner of an M1 rifle is faced with maintenance activities not encountered by military users. The owner must understand the operation and function of the rifle, and be proficient at dissasembly, assembly, inspection, and replacement of individual components. the purpose of this book is to impart that information to the reader which is necessary to develop the knowledge and ability to perform those tasks. Acquisition of these skills will inspire confidence at the work bench and rifle range!

The M1 Garand Complete Assembly Guide - How to build your own M1 Garand by Walt Kuleck with Clint McKee. Since the publication of Scott Duff's The M1 Garand Owner's Guide, readers have asked for a book that would help guide them through the assembly of their M1 Garand. Ideally, such a book would impart the tips, tricks, pitfalls and "gotchas!" that experienced Garand enthusiasts and armorers have discovered and developed over the years.
This is that book. It goes beyond the military manuals in depth and scope, using words and pictures to clearly guide the reader through every operation required to assemble their Garand. You'll learn the best and easiest ways to build your rifle. It won't make you an Garand armorer, but it will make you a more knowledgeable owner. You'll be able to do more with (and to) your rifle. You'll also be able to better judge the competence of those whom you choose to work on your rifle, and to discuss your needs more intelligently with them.
In short, if you build it, you'll know how to repair it.
The M1 Garand Complete Assembly Guide is a companion volume to The M1 Garand Owner's Guide by Scott Duff. The M1 Garand: Serial Numbers & Data Sheets - A pocket reference guide to the M1 rifle. The 8" x 4" size makes for easy pocket carry to Gun Shows. Includes 84 Data Sheets. All copies signed by Scott Duff!
Two of the most critical factors in collecting the M1 Garand are the determination of dates of manufacture and identification of components correct for specific rifles. This is important whether considering the purchase of an M1 that is being presented as original, or attempting to restore a rifle to its correct configuration. The best way to determine the correct components for a specific M1 is through use of data sheets on original rifles. The purpose of this book is to provide the reader with serial number tables and a large sampling of data sheets to aid in identification and restoration.
The M1 Garand: Serial Numbers & Data Sheets is in response to requests by collectors for a pocket reference book of serial numbers and data sheets. The 4" wide by 8" high size is convenient for pocket carry to gun shows, auctions, estate sales, and gun shops.

ROCK ISLAND RIFLE MODEL 1903 by C.S. Ferris with Foreword by Scott A. Duff.
This book provides both the beginning and advanced collector of the Rock Island Arsenal Model 1903 rifle with a depth of information heretofore unavailable. The standard reference works on the M1903 include little detailed information specific to the R.I.A. ’03, while this book is devoted to the Rock Island Arsenal Model 1903 rifle. Examined in depth are all aspects of this most interesting ’03 variant. In order to identify the differences between the Rock Island and Springfield ’03 rifles, details on both are examined. Therefore, the Springfield ’03 collector will also derive benefit from this book.
Chapters are devoted to the history of Rock Island Arsenal, its first M1903 rifle production period (1904-1913), early alterations, its second rifle production period (World War I), post-War events, barrel date/serial number correlation, production numbers, the 1919 National Match rifles, final inspectors (cartouches), bayonets, scabbards, slings, marksmanship badges, and the Rock Island Arsenal Museum. Laminated soft cover, 6” x 9”, 187 pages, and 121 photographs and drawings. All copies signed by Nick Ferris and Scott Duff!

UNITED STATES RIFLE MODEL OF 1917 by C.S. Ferris with Foreword by Scott A. Duff.
UNITED STATES RIFLE MODEL OF 1917 provides both the beginning and advanced
collector of the Model 1917 rifle with a depth of information heretofore
unavailable.
The very existence of the
Model 1917 rifle was almost accidental. When America entered World War One it had but 600,000
Model 1903 rifles with which to arm a growing military. Government armories were
unable to supply the additional millions of rifles required. Because three
American firms were already making rifles for Britain it was possible that an American version
of the British Pattern 14 rifle could be produced quickly in significant
numbers. It saved the day generations ago, but is little understood as a
collectable military item or in historic significance.
The purpose of this book is to
inform the collector of details to be expected of an original, or “correct”,
Model 1917 rifle. Such details include finish, dates of manufacture and serial
number correlation, manufacturer and inspection markings,
rebuild marks, and differences in parts between the three manufacturers:
If you are interested in
the study of the UNITED STATES RIFLE MODEL OF 1917 and have been disappointed by the lack of information
available, then this book is for you!

Arms For The Nation - History of Springfield Armory produced longarms from Flintlock to M14. All copies signed by Scott Duff!
Arms for the Nation provides a general history of 174 years of Springfield longarms in one treatise. Springfield Armory was established by Congress in April 1794 and supplied arms for the nation until its closure in April 1968. This book commemorates the bicentennial of the founding of the Armory and describes the longarms developed and produced there.
The introduction provides the reader with an overview of Springfield Armory, its establishment, industrial history, and the National Park Service administered Museum. The remainder of the book defines the eight epochal types of longarms produced by Springfield. A chapter is devoted to the Flintlock Musket, Percussion Musket, Rifle-Musket, Trapdoor Rifle, Krag Rifle, '03 Springfield Rifle, M1 Rifle, and M14 Rifle.
Each chapter describes that particular epochal arm, the various models, their production history, their service record, and significant examples displayed in the Springfield Armory Museum. A chart depicting production quantities, duration of manufacture, length, weight, and caliber is included along with photographs and drawings of each example.

American Military Bayonets of the 20th Century by Gary M. Cunningham, with Foreword by Scott A. Duff. - A single reference book that chronicles the U.S. knife bayonet from those used on the M1892 Krag rifle to the M16. All copies signed by Scott Duff
The cry "Fix Bayonets!" has caused a rush of adrenaline for 350 years. Early muzzle-loading flintlock muskets were fired from one to several times as opposing lines of infantry closed. Then after firing his last possible shot, the socket-bayonet-mounted musket became a short pike; at that instant infantry combat regressed several centuries.
The development of magazine-fed rapid-firing rifles in the late 19th century diminished the importance of the bayonet charge. It became not quite a thing of the past, though nearly so. Yet the knife-type bayonet was still deemed a useful combination of weapon and tool.
No military rifle is truly complete without its matching bayonet and scabbard. Combining bayonet and rifle not only enhances the appearance of the ensemble but also more closely represents its use by the infantryman.
Until now no single reference book has chronicled U.S. military knife bayonets of the 20 century. Gary Cunningham, a bayonet historian and collector since 1960, has written this book as a culmination of his studies and his acquisitions. In the author's words, "A guide for collectors, including notes on makers, markings, finishes, variations, scabbards, and production data." Covered are bayonets from the Model of 1892 used on the Krag rifle to the current issue M9 for the M16.
The layout and text is "user-friendly" to beginning and advanced collectors alike. Bayonets and scabbards are addressed in the orider that tehy were adopted. The computer-generated line drawings are of outstanding clarity. A detailed "Specifications Box" is included on each model to guide the reader through the variations.
